Easter 2014

We had a wonderful Easter with our family. After church we headed down to Sherry's for a wonderful dinner. After dinner and some playing, the kids had an egg/scavenger hunt. Then we topped off the night with dessert and volleyball!

Easter Egg Hunt

The week before Easter I was asking a friend about local Easter egg hunts. She only knew of one but didn't have many details, and I found another one online. I thought it would have been so fun if I had planned a neighborhood egg hunt. I told my friend we should've and that I'd do it next year. She offered to help, but then I thought, why not throw one together for this year?!? She said she was in, so we got to planning and inviting and three days later we hosted an egg hunt at a local park. We had the kids play "Bunny, Bunny, Hop" (duck, duck, goose), and Red Rover while the dad hid the eggs, and while the different age groups took their turn. It turned out great and we will definitely have to keep it up! Several families showed up and I think all the kids had a good time!

Ellis Fun Run

Avri's elementary school held a Family Fun Run on Saturday. We had a great time-it was nice to get out as a family and exercise, and enjoy the nice weather!

Florida Trip: Last Night in Naples

After we got back from the Everglades, we went down to Tin City/downtown Naples to shop around and grab dinner. Then we met up with Grandpa & Grandma on the pier and enjoyed the most gorgeous sunset to end our trip in Florida. We had such a wonderful time, saw and experienced so many fun things, and loved spending time with some of our very favorite people. Thank you Jake & Lauren for your hospitality and showing us all such a good time!!

Florida Trip: Everglades

Monday morning we headed out for an adventure in the Everglades. We couldn't even believe how many alligators we saw along the side of the highway as we drove! We hit up the Skunk Ape Research Center as recommended by Lauren. It was a real classy, legit research center...okay, not really! I'm not sure how to explain it, but it was definitely worth the stop! The guy that runs it has alligators, various birds and snakes, giant tortoises, etc. We had a great time checking out the wildlife.

 

Yes, we let our 7-year old get this close to this ginormous python!!!

The girls got to feed the tortoises, and most of us took turns with this white bird. It was quite the character.

After our fun at the "research center" we headed to another place that gave airboat rides. We had such a blast cruising around the water. Unfortunately we didn't see a lot of alligators out on our ride, but we did see some while we waited...

Florida Trip: Naples Day 3

On Sunday morning, the girls headed out to a brunch with Grandma & Grandpa Jones. We ate outside at this yummy cafe and had the fattest sandwiches ever! It was so fun to have some time with the wonderful ladies of the family.

Some of us headed to church after brunch, and after that we planned another day at the beach but the weather was not cooperating! We stuck it out for a little while, but it was just too windy and chilly so we played volleyball and visited while the kids played.

Florida Trip: Naples Day 2

On Saturday we had a fun pool day at Leslie and Lindsay's rental house. The kids were little fish! They also loved the pinata! That night James & I and Lindsay & Landon enjoyed hanging out playing games and watching the kids so Grandpa & Grandma could have some time out to dinner with Lana, Leslie & John, and Jake & Lauren. The cousins loved playing and the adults loved visiting.
