Back to School

The girls got to be pampered at Aunt Lindsay's salon for back to school haircuts. We gave Emery a darling bob, Avri had a few inches trimmed off, and even Claire got a little trim. We love going to see Aunt Linny and getting all dolled up!!

The girls had Back to School Night on Monday. We visited classrooms, dropped off school supplies, talked to teachers, and a few other things. They were both really excited, but a little timid too.

Avri had her first day of school on Tuesday. She was so excited!! She had a great day, loved being back with friends and back to learning new things. She loves her teacher, Ms. McNabb, and is super excited for the mystery class pet they will be getting next week!

Emery's first day was on Friday. She couldn't wait!! She looked adorable, and after some pictures and dropping off her backpack, she was out on the playground with Avri! Ave was an excellent big sister and watched out for Emery and rode home with her on the bus. I'm excited for all the ways the girls will learn and grow this school year!

Happy 5th Birthday Emery!!

Miss Emery is 5! The birthday girl requested breakfast in bed, so her awesome Dad got up early and made her crepes and scrambled eggs before he left for work. We had a pretty low-key day since we had just gotten home from back-to-back camping trips, but we did have a little party after James came home from work later in the evening. Emery was thrilled with the Nerf bow and "arrow" set she got, as well as some new clothes and her kitty headband. The girls loves kitties. Her favorite gift was definitely a Lego set she had been wishing for. She literally thanked us over 20 times after opening it. It was so cute. We let her stay up late and Dad helped her put it together.

We are sure grateful for this sweet and sassy little girl. She is full of energy and loves to be on the go and have lots of fun, she is super friendly and loves to make new friends, she is silly and has a great imagination, she is stubborn and extremely strong-willed, but also so sweet and tender-hearted. I'm excited for the year she has ahead of her as she starts Kindergarten and continues to learn and grow as her own little person. We love you Boo!!!

Snippets

Here are some other random happenings from May...

Movie night!

We love getting out for walks!

Emery loves her scooter and zips around on it so fast!

"Decades Day" for Spirit Week at Avri's school.
Not too bad for throwing it together the night before, right? ;)

Emery had her end-of-the-year program for Pre-School. Next stop: Kindergarten!!

Avri received the Outstanding Reading Award at a school assembly. Go Avri!

I do hate posting this, but it may be the only baby bump picture I share this pregnancy. I am growing astronomically--every inch of my body! This bump is only 15 weeks!!

These three cuties and I packed a picnic lunch and picked Dad up for lunch at the park.

My friend put together a Mommy-Daughter date one evening. We went to Rio 2 and then out for frozen yogurt. So fun to have some time with the two older girls.

First Day of School: Emery

Emery was so excited to start a new year of Pre-School! She has a new teacher and is loving it. Her first morning after I snapped my 20th picture she told me, "Taking pictures is SO boring"...followed by several suggestions for more poses and requests for more pictures. Silly girl. I'm so excited for how much she will learn and grow this year to get her ready for Kindergarten next year!!!

Day at the Salon

Avri and Emery have been begging for a day at Aunt Linny's salon (and I was anxious for it too!!) Since we were up for Grandma's Back-to-School sleepover, it worked out great to fit that in to our weekend too. The girls both got trims and loved getting pampered by Lindsay. Lindsay-thank you for fitting us in to your busy schedule and working your magic on our hair. :)

Avri's "selfie" after she got her hair done.

Emery looking nice and relaxed while Ave helped Lindsay rinse her hair.

*She calls crayons "crowns". Who knows why and it doesn't matter how many times you correct her, they are crowns to her.
*Emery can be full of it! I am often embarrassed/entertained by the things I hear she has said to neighbors, Primary teachers, etc. The girl has quite the imagination and comes up with quite the crazy things to say!
*She is super friendly. She makes a new best friend everywhere we go and loves to meet new kids at the store, the park, church, etc.
*It is a rare, rare thing for her to put her shoes on the right feet.
*One day she asked me "Do you want to hear a song I learned at school?" I told her I sure did! She paused and said, "Hold on, it has to load first."
*She loves to make up songs and sing while she plays.
*She loves to say the prayer and is proud to tell us after most prayers, "I closed my eyes the whole time!!"
*She loves to be outside and play, play, play, play!!
*She still talks out of the side of her mouth from time to time, and it still cracks us all up.
*She gets really excited about things and will get right in your face to tell you about it. She gets so animated, it's so funny!
*She loves to repeat quantity-ish words. A lot. When she says she loves you she will say, "I love you so so so so soooooo so so soooo soooo so so so so sooooooo....(etc, etc) much!" Or one day she was saying something about how your great great great great great great great (on and on) Grandma would be dead. Silly girl.
*She and Avri sure do their fair share of fighting, but they really do love to play together and run around the neighborhood with their cute group of friends.
*Emery is a great big sister to Claire and they love to be goofy together. Emery does often hide herself from Claire so Claire won't "mess up" what she is playing with.
*While giving me a squeeze she said, "When I hug you like this it means I love you."

(Please don't mind the dead grass and poor background choice, I was in a hurry to get a couple pictures before I dropped the girls off with my Mom.)

Her favorite pose ;)
